The other week we received an email providing us some statistics on the caches we have hidden.
I have to admit I was impressed with the total amount of times our caches have been found. We love reading the logs and finding out what others think of our hides.
If you haven’t found any of our cache’s yet here is a list of them available in East Yorkshire. We have plans for more and we hope to build a trail in the future.
Travel Bug B&B is our most favourited cache, we did love placing this one out there to be found. All of them are child friendly, Carlton Micro and Amy Johnson are micro caches but the rest are big enough for some swag.
We were gifted a Kooties coverall a couple of weeks ago and we have spent some time trying it out with Robyn (3).

Robyn absolutely loves to pretend to be a doctor and make everyone better. There was an obvious choice when deciding which coverall to go for, you can choose between: fire fighter, construction worker, paramedic and police officer.
Kooties are a worlds first coverall that combines messy play and role play.
We have three children and so this is perfect for us as our washing machine is always on the go when they have been playing outside with chalk, painting with water or in the mud. Our kids seem to get covered in all sorts and so I was excited to see if it would reduce our in the week wash down with Robyn’s school uniform.
Robyn’s first impressions was that she couldn’t wait to get in them, she loved that she could be a ‘doctor’ and fix everyone back together again. Robyn is 3 but 4 in November, we decided to go for a size 3-4 because she is on the tiny side. We were pleased that the Kooties coverall had plenty of space to grow but it didn’t matter that it was a bit big her her because of the elastic on the wrists and ankles. Either way they offer a lot of space making it easy to get the coverall over all of Robyn’s clothes.
The first thing we did was let Robyn chalk away and it proved useful because it meant her school clothes were kept clean. The chalk was easy to wipe off the coveralls as well. Find out about the chalking in the vlog (keep reading).
Whilst out Geocaching Robyn enjoyed searching for someone in need and running to help as well as running to find the cache. Often when we are out Geocaching we wear old clothes because we don’t want to get them muddy or grass stained, the coverall is a perfect alternative for the kids and it means we wouldn’t have to worry as much.

Last year we attended Bobo Frett’s Easter Egg Rolling event for the first time. A Geocaching event with a bit of fun added into it.
We will be returning to this years event which is next weekend on the 21st April 2-3pm.
This year we are a little better prepared as we know what to expect. All three kids have already decorated their eggs and are excited for this years event.

The Brocklesby Egg Rolling Competition 2019
Roll up! Roll up! And once you’ve rolled up let’s roll down…again!
This is our fifth egg rolling competition down Mausoleum Hill on the Brocklesby Estate. Egg rolling is not compulsory.

Toward the end of last year we were out Geocaching and Robyn found her FIRST Geocache. Robyn was super excited and it was unexpected as this Geocache was hidden in plain sight. Usually Sophie, Riley or Daddy end up racing towards it and taking the victory but not on this occasion as they raced past in excitement as to who was going to find it. Robyn stumbled over and picked it up, she was so excited and felt that sense of Geocache achievement.
This Geocache was a part of the Wilberfoss series (GC52P7T) which is a lovely walk around around Wilberfoss not far from York in East Yorkshire.
We are yet to go back and complete the whole series, it had gotten a little chilly that day.
This blog was prompted by The Geocaching Vlogger, his video on declaration of an appreciation week for Geocaching HQ. We wanted to join in somehow and so the least we can do is write a blog post. In fact it’s the first one of 2019, we need to get back in on it. The Gilmour’s have done plenty of New Year Caching after all.
I’m going to try and not be so sentimental but I think it’s unavoidable. Here’s my message to Geocaching HQ…
Thank you doesn’t cut it for us because Geocaching has brought a lot to our lives. We have been caching for almost 2 years, in fact as soon as we discovered it we went out to cache. At first we enjoyed it, we couldn’t believe this was across the world and around us and then after time went by we realised what a difference it’s made to us. The time we went out caching was a way of escaping the reality of our lives at times, a way to get healthy and a way to spent time working as a team in our family unit. I used to laugh at those shirts that said ‘Geocaching is my therapy’ and then I came to realise that we could even relate to this. Escapism from my reality was important and still is at times, still recovering from an abusive relationship from some years ago. I do love nature and used to go walking a lot but it became difficult as it ended up thinking over situations etc all the time. Geocaching gives you a focus. Not many people know about my connection with Geocaching like this, so it’s quite personal. Thank you again HQ.

Today we visited the Beverley Minster and because Abbie’s Fund led us there.
Four years ago on Christmas Eve we went along to our scan hoping to find out if we were having a boy or girl- to share the news on Christmas Day. We did find out we were having a boy but he had passed a couple of weeks before. Words cannot describe the pain and upset. Katy Cowell was by my side virtually as I went through the process, all the way of Christmas and late into the night, she showed her passion to help others.
Harrison James Gilmour was born on the 28th December 2014.
You can see Harrison’s bauble on display on the top left of the tree. Here is our rainbow baby – Robyn Laura.
The Christmas Tree festival was beautiful with over 85 trees decorated by local organisations, charities, businesses, community groups, schools and more. Theres not long left until it finishes but we highly recommend going to have a look if you have some time. £3 entry for adults and children are free, there’s also a competition for the children to enter and you can vote for your favourite tree.

We also couldn’t refuse finding a nearby Geocache- Church Micro 8380.. Beverley- Minster (GC63G9D) Daddy found this one without looking at the clues and it was no effort at all. A quick cache find and a picture of the beautiful architect.
At the Flemingate Shopping Centre there were lots of festivities including these oh so cute donkeys, Sophie and Riley loved to give them a stroke but Robyn wasn’t so sure.

Bank holiday weekend just gone we were busy bee’s. Not only did we go along to The Print Shop but we also went to check out Flemingate in Beverley, its a new(ish) shopping complex with multi-storey car park. We also wanted to do some Geocaching and now that the car park is open it makes it a little more accessible.
We came across this delightful sand sculpture of the Beverley Minster. We were happy we could get a couple of photo’s like this but if you went along you would see it is surrounded by metal fencing, you can kind of see it in the background. We understand why the fencing is there, Rob and I remarked at what a shame it was as it was beautiful and we would have loved to have gotten a photo with the children next to it.
I was delighted to come across the Creative Lab shop as it had been mentioned to us on many occasion but we hadn’t had chance to have a snoop around until today. The Creative Lab is full of different artisans and there is certainly unusual, unique and something you would want to take home with you.
We loved the Vampire Travel Kits, they were so cute and made us smile. There were different sizes available and also other unusual wizarding items like potions and fairy wands.

So what did we buy? Well, we know we need to come back as there were so many different things that took our fancy; especially the unique furniture. Today we went for something small and something we couldn’t refuse.
Nawww what a cute fox! If you didn’t know already, we have lots of fox things in our home and we always like to add to the collection when we see an opportunity like this.
As for Geocaching, we found three caches whilst we were out and about. GC1GAMC was our first cache ‘Beverley’s Friary’s Badge Box’, we had around a 5 minute search for this one and Sophie was the proud finder. We wouldn’t have discovered this location if it wasn’t for Geocaching, it was a beautiful place to find a cache.
We also went onto find GC55V0X Diamond Jubilee, this was a quick find in a little public garden by the corner of the road. Finally we went onto find a multi cache GC699YC A Fine Pair # 455 – Beverley, here was the log entry for this find…
Nice and easy to photograph the fine pair. Getting the clues, easy, converting on the spot with three children resulted us head in the wrong direction. Once we had stopped and checked the coordinates we realised we did a digit wrong and finally turned around. I left a book in the telephone box for #IBeliveinBookFairies weekend of hiding – for someone to find, read and re-hide.
Finding the cache also took a while and I managed to bump my head, I have an egg now. But daddy came to the rescue and found the cache. Signed and that ended our trip out. Home to get some medicine for ones head. Ouch. TFTC
It was a fun few hours out the house which cost us the petrol, parking and a foxy treat.
